Tips For Mosquitos
One of the biggest pains of working outside and in the garden, is that you are often prime food for the pesky mosquito. Luckily there are a few things that you can do to help keep the pests at bay and enjoy your time in the yard.
The first thing is to make sure that you keep your yard and garden fairly clean. This means making sure that any food or grain that you may have out, such as food for your pets, is well contained. This will help to keep you from attracting small animals or birds to your garden. This in turn will help to limit the availability of food for the mosquitos.
Next, you will want to make sure that there is nothing in your garden that can provide a habitat for the mosquitos to live in. Most importantly, this includes not having any standing water around for the mosquito to lay its eggs in. Things to keep an eye out for and avoid include bird baths, stagnant ponds, or old tires. If you use items such as old tires to plant in, make sure to wash it out at least once a week. This will help to prevent the larvae from maturing.
If you have a stagnant bond or a bird bath, you can purchase pellets called mosquito dunks that can be placed in the water to kill off the mosquitos. Alternatively, for ponds there are some small fish that eat mosquitos.
By following these suggestions, you can help to limit the mosquitos that are in your yards and you can hopefully have a more pleasant experience gardening.
